When you submit a story, we may collect the information you enter into the submission form, including:

Your story, headline, question, category, and content-warning selections

Confirmation that you are 18 or older

Optional contact information, such as an email address or social media handle

Any other information you voluntarily include in your submission

You do not need to provide contact information to submit a story.

How we use your information

We may use submitted information to review and manage submissions, contact you about a submission if you provide contact information, edit or prepare selected submissions for publication, operate and improve The Tea Box, and prevent spam, abuse, or misuse of the submission system.

Stories selected for publication may be used as described in our Submission Terms.

Anonymous submissions

We ask submitters not to include real names, addresses, workplaces, schools, social media handles, or other identifying details in their stories.

If you provide optional contact information, we do not intend to publish that information with your story.

However, no online submission system can guarantee complete anonymity. Information contained within the story itself may make a person or situation recognizable to someone familiar with it.

We may use third-party services to operate The Tea Box, including website hosting, form processing, analytics, spam prevention, email, and social media platforms.

Those providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and the services they provide to us.
